Background & Philosophy

Seven years ago, Teresa Farnum & Associates, Inc. (TFA) first started offering student success Workshops during the summer months. These workshops were initiated in response to listening to colleagues and clients who expressed concerns about:

  • Feeling "lost in the crowd" at larger conferences and events
  • Sacrificing depth for breath at some of the traditional, bigger venues
  • The overwhelming cost of attending events and flat-rate event fees
  • Conferences that lack balance between research, theory, and practice--practice often being neglected

How TFA Workshops are Different

Responding to the considerations above, TFA workshops:

  • Feature capped enrollment (typically less than 30 people/session)
  • Allocate two-hour time periods for sessions
  • Provide different pricing schemas and a variety of discounts
  • Incorporate structured activities and discussions that focus on applying knowledge at the institutional level
