Dr. Hoppes has worked in higher education administration for 20 years in roles that range from housing and residential life to enrollment management. She currently serves as Dean of Undergraduate Programs at Golden Gate University (GGU) in San Francisco. Her career experiences span the gamut from mid-sized public institutions to small, private institutions for both traditional undergraduate students and non-traditional, working adults. As dean at GGU, an institution focused on adult learners, she has led a complete transformation of undergraduate program degree offerings and services resulting in a 5% increase in term-to-term persistence and stabilization and growth in new student enrollment following a 14-year decline. Currently Dr. Hoppes is directing a team of faculty to develop the university’s first comprehensive program review and assessment effort for undergraduate education.

Cherron’s prior experience includes managing services related to outreach and recruitment, admissions, academic advising, international student services, career and internship services, counseling, disability services, student life, graduation certification, and commencement. She has also worked in the areas of marketing and collateral development, strategic planning, and institutional research. She has been a strong advocate of maximizing the use of technology and the Internet to support enrollment and student services.

Dr. Hoppes earned her Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration at the University of Alabama where she studied trust and institutional sustainability at small colleges and universities facing resource constraints. Her most recent professional presentations include leading sessions for the Association for the Study of Higher Education, AACRAO’s Strategic Enrollment Management conference and the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning.
