With a 27-year career in higher education and a record of sustained, long-term enrollment growth, Dr. Homer “Bucky” Wesley brings a practical understanding of unique institutional needs to building enrollment. He currently serves as Vice President for Student Services at Mississippi University for Women (MUW), a small liberal arts institution that has recently grown to include a 15% male population. Prior to MUW, Wesley spent 16 years at the The University of Southern Mississippi (USM; 15,000 students). During his tenure at USM, he implemented a recruitment plan that led to a 20% increase in enrollment.
Dr. Wesley’s successes in enrollment management can be attributed to his emphasis on university cooperation, engagement, and accountability. Bucky is best known for developing individualized enrollment plans that accommodate institutions’ financial considerations by using alternative and traditional marketing strategies.
