Dr. Terenzio has held many faculty leadership and senior-level administrative positions throughout her 30 year career in higher education. Her innovative approaches to pedagogy, program development, and organizational reform have lead to increased effectiveness regarding student progress and achievements. One key to her success is that she views attrition as symptomatic of the institution’s holistic functioning. To address retention issues, then, she focuses on role clarity and purpose as they relate to alignment of mission and strategic alliances at all levels: individual faculty/staff, department, college unit, institution, and/or various other organizational.
Dr. Terenzio has been involved in numerous systems-level initiatives that have resulted in the creation of a new college; the launching of a leadership institute in partnership with a regional chamber of commerce in New York, the establishment of a K-20 collaborative, and the development of a virtual high school in New Jersey. She has also worked extensively in designing professional development programs, which believes are essential features in any reform or in managing strategic initiatives.
Dr. Terenzio is currently the vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty at Bloomfield College in New Jersey. Formerly, she was the vice president for campus life at the Sage Colleges from 1999- 2004. Prior to this position she had a joint appointment as professor of psychology and the creative arts departments. Marion holds a Ph.D. in community psychology from Michigan State; M.A. in psychology from the Sage Graduate School; M.S. in music therapy from Texas Women’s University; and a B.A. in music from Vassar College.
