Dr. Pollard’s career spans teaching mathematics from secondary school through graduate school culminating as full-professor. His administrative service career includes college and university dean, provost, and president. He founded the Regional HBCU Summit on Retention for a consortium of several public institutions in Maryland and the DC. Dr. Pollard has published and served as principal speaker and consultant in mathematics, assessment, planning and interdisciplinary. He is past chair of the Oak Ridge Associated Universities HBCU/MEI Council that focused on STEM disciplines. After receiving a $27 million NSF/NASA award he established the Model Institutions for Excellence Program at Bowie State University to retain students in mathematics and science. He also facilitated freshman and sophomore programs at several universities including Virginia State University and Johnson C. Smith University.
