Developing Rubrics to Assess Student Learning

This one-day workshop focuses on developing mechanisms that use student experiences and student commentary to provide faculty with vital information about how well students are mastering key course concepts. Using the theoretical framework pictured below, participants are introduced to the four ingredients that promote successful student learning: clear expression of learning outcomes, integration of student-faculty feedback, well-formed instructional design, and clear and meaningful grading rubrics. Of these four factors, this workshop emphasizes the construction and communication of rubrics.
